Amour, amore, liebe, or love. No matter how you say it, love is everywhere this month. And there’s no better way to romance your sweetheart than to slip away for a carefree, blissful Valentine’s getaway.
With the day falling on Thursday, we’re making a long and lovely out-of-town weekend of it…just the two of us...no kids, no cares, just us. If time is short, we’ll opt for a night of oh-so-sweet romance at an in-town hotel, leaving work early of course, and if we can swing it, going in to work late the next day if at all. Where to go? It’s ever so easy since most hotels have romance packages galore that might include a suite upgrade, chilled bubble or wine on arrival, chocolates, perhaps a romantic candlelit dinner, breakfast or brunch, late checkout… But reserve now: February 14 is crunch time and it and the weekend following book up in a heartbeat.
We’re pulling out all the stops and ordering a madly decadent, sensuous room service dinner that begins with a heady bottle of chilled bubbly. Then it’s on to oysters, lobster, crab, or rack of lamb, asparagus—anything that involves eating with fingers—plus libido-liberating chocolate. Brunch in bed the next day will top off a sweet celebration.
Make this an annual tradition and neither of you will be agonizing over the usual problem of finding just the right gift, booking into just the right resto… Cupid will thank you.
